Dr. Abelson is the George Beadle Emeritus Professor of Biology at the California Institute of Technology. He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1985. His focus on the chemistry and molecular biology of RNA structure and function contributes to our fundamental understanding of very basic biological processes. He is a Co-Founder and member of the Board of Directors of the Agouron Institute.
