Rib-X Reports Phase II cSSSI Data, BioCenturyExtra

BioCenturyExtra, Volume 16, Number 237, December 9, 2008
Rib-X (New Haven, Conn.) said top-line data from a Phase II trial to treat complicated skin and skin structure infections (cSSSIs) showed 300 and 400 mg of delafloxacin (RX-3341) twice daily was as efficacious as Tygacil tigecycline, the primary endpoint. Delafloxacin also was more active than Tygacil against in vitro samples of both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria samples taken from trial subjects. Delafloxacin is a broad spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic. Tygacil is marketed by Wyeth (NYSE:WYE).
